On a day-to-day basis you will be our in-house finishing expert, solving metal finishing issues in our plants and those of our suppliers. Over the long term we are looking to completely redesign our finishing processes, and you will play a key role in that project. At Baldwin we enjoy the "best of two worlds:" we operate as a smaller, agile, stand-alone corporation, but we're backed by the stability and resources of Black & Decker. Our Reading location houses both Baldwin's corporate headquarters and our manufacturing facilities.

You'll contribute to the development and manufacture of luxury door hardware and accessories, including security, general, and decorative hardware, and coordinated exterior lighting and bath accessories. Your activities will include identifying, investigating, evaluating, specifying, procuring, implementing, and developing new equipment, processes, and facilities to support new products, new technology, and plant capacity. This is an individual contributor role and pivotal to your success will be your ability to motivate and persuade diverse professionals at multiple levels from a variety of functional areas.

We're looking for a professional who is familiar with multiple finishing processes, including PVD, and has an understanding and working knowledge of the mechanics of finishing equipment. You also will need to be an innovative, out-of-the-box thinker with a proven ability to lead technical groups for organic and inorganic finishing in the areas of manufacturing operations support, process development, and improvement.

Baldwin Hardware Corporation is part of the Hardware and Home Improvement (HHI) Group, a division of Black & Decker, a Fortune 500 global manufacturer and marketer of quality power tools and accessories, hardware and home improvement products, and technology-based fastening systems. Our products and services are marketed in more than 100 countries, and we have manufacturing operations in 14 countries. • Driving and conducting process/finish development, improvement, research, and implementation.
  • Supporting supplier development activities as they relate to finish start-up, development, and process improvement.
  • Troubleshooting finishing issues across our operations.
You may travel overseas once a year to meet with suppliers.

In addition, in order to be an outstanding Senior Engineer, you will:
  • Take a team-player approach to building relationships and driving consensus cross functionally to implement new and existing projects.
  • Approach your projects with a strong sense of ownership, but also remain flexible as priorities shift.
  • Bring a high-energy approach, sense of urgency, and solid focus to manage multiple projects with time constraints.
  • Maintain robust attention to the details without losing sight of the big picture and how those details fit into it.
  • Remain adaptive in our dynamic environment; what happened yesterday is not necessarily what will happen tomorrow.
If this sounds like the right mix of challenge and opportunity for you, and you meet the minimum qualifications, we want to hear from you!
